Hi! I'm Leslie Abbott and I am thrilled to be in my second year on the Kindergarten team at BCE. I am honored and excited to be your child's Kindergarten teacher!
I am a native Austinite and went to Eanes Elementary, Hill Country Middle School, Westlake High School and the University of Texas at Austin. My husband and I have 2 sons (who went to BCE) and 2 Cardigan Welsh Corgis (who did not go to BCE). Our oldest son is a sophomore at Rice University. Our youngest son is a junior at Westlake. Go Chaps!
I believe in finding joy in every day. Some of my joys outside of school include cooking, photography, live music, dancing, gardening, traveling, and cheering on the Chaps and the New Orleans Saints.
Every day when my sons go to school, I put my trust in their educators that they will respect, challenge, encourage, help, and protect my sons. I'm sure that your expectations of me as your child's teacher are very similar and I take that responsibility very seriously. I will foster the same safe, nurturing, supportive, appropriately challenging, joyful classroom that I wanted for my sons when they were in Kindergarten (and every day since then)!
We are each unique and bring different strengths to school every day to make BCE the special place that it is. With trust and respect at the cornerstone of everything we do, we will spend time getting to know each other, building connections, celebrating our similarities and differences, and establishing a positive learning environment.
I am eager to share my passion for learning and helping each child realize their potential. We are going to have a great year!
